Masked Feelings

Krista Herzog utilizes video, installation and collage in her ongoing investigation into how the human mind operates in the creation of thoughts and memories that impact an individual’s mental health. By examining her own personal experience living with anxiety and depression, as well as that of individuals close to her, Krista’s work attempts to communicate the difficulties people face while dealing with this illness.
With this particular installation Krista has transferred and reconstructed her bedroom in the gallery space. A television monitor plays a continuous loop of her video, Masked Feelings, offering a candid glimpse into the mind of the artist as she exposes intimate thoughts and memories. The viewer is invited to engage with Krista’s personal environment while accessing the video component of her installation as she examines the subversion of limits between public and private spaces.
